Since Akira Yoshizawa brought origami to the United States in the 1950's, the art form from Asia has become increasingly more creative and complex. Artists, scientists and engineers have have since used origami to explore and create. Origami principles are used in the aerospace and automotive industries among others. Origami relates to mathematics and many was as well. It is a transformative art form and not only in the paper used to create simple or elaborate models as origami offers the power of transformation in the way we as creators and appreciators see the world around us. I chose this art form in an effort to help the late Yoshizawa and his efforts in introducing others to the wonders of paper folding, young and old, near and far.
